Bad Night

Off Topic

We had another scary night last night. Earlier this week Kaylie girl (5 yrs) was diagnosed with phenomena. While she is seems to be getting over it now, still has a deep cough, she seems to have shared the bug with Reese (2 yrs).

Yesterday we noticed that Reese had a running nose with an occasional cough. Around 11:20 Reese woke up cough and choking on mucus. When Michelle ran to the room she found Reese struggling to breath, wheezing and taking quick short breaths. After some debate Michelle took Reese to the ER. It turns out she has has bronchitis , the croup and an ear infection. Apparently the bronchitis had swollen her esophagus, oxygen level was really low and she had all sorts of stuff in her lungs. So they gave her a steroid shot to open things up and a couple of breathing treatments to help the gunk in her lungs. They sent her Michelle and Reese home with a prescription for her bronchitis and ear infection.

It's strange, as we have the last couple of times, we debated about going to the hospital. This time however (for me at least) it wasn't about money or our insurance. This time it was about our previous ER experiences. Long waits, wrong diagnoses and even being allowed to roll off the examination table were just a few of our past experiences with ERs and Reese. And these experiences happened at so called "children" hospitals. With that in mind Michelle took Reese to our neighborhood hospital (Lake Pointe Medical Center) and it turned out to be a great experience. Reese was admitted, diagnosed and released withing 2 hours! Simply amazing! We would had been lucky to even see a doctor in that time at the other hospitals. We had heard such bad things about Lake Pointe and kids we never considered going there until last night. Now I'm glad we did. No more drives downtown to the big hospitals, two blocks away is good for us! Anyway I guess I'm ranting now.

Good Day!
Ryan
